hoffman specialty products
At Midwest Supply, we carry a variety of Hoffman Specialty bucket steam traps, including series B1, B2, B3, B4, B6, C, H, I, and more. Every line of Hoffman Specialty inverted bucket steam traps features corrosion and water hammer resistance and offers reliable and energy-efficient operation.
WHAT ARE THE COMMON TYPES OF STEAM TRAPS?
Depending on your application, you can choose from three types of steam traps:
MECHANICAL STEAM TRAPS
Mechanical traps use a float and valve to release condensate. They are typically used in low-pressure systems, with pressures below 15 psi. They are not suitable for higher-pressure systems since they will fail prematurely due to the increased pressure.
THERMODYNAMIC STEAM TRAPS
Thermodynamic traps use an internal spring and valve system that opens when steam enters and closes when condensate exits. They are suitable for moderate and high-pressure systems, from 15-150 psi.
THERMOSTATIC STEAM TRAPS
Thermostatic traps use temperature-sensitive bellows to open and close the valve. They are used in both low- and high-pressure systems, with pressures up to 150 psi. These traps are often used in situations where temperature variations are expected, as they are more sensitive to temperature changes than the other types of traps.
