Sensors measure physical conditions like humidity, light, sound, and temperature. They can be made from various materials, but most have both a detecting and an output or display component.

How Sensors Work

Sensors detect and respond to physical environment inputs such as light, heat, motion, moisture, pressure, or other environmental phenomena. Generally, the output is a signal converted to a readable display at the sensor location or transmitted electronically over a network for reading or further processing.

What Makes a Good Sensor?

It is critical to consider temperature, size, protection class, and whether the sensor requires digital or analog input. Other qualities to look out for include affordability, low installation costs, and low maintenance. That's why we stock first-rate Bapi, Bellimo, and Jergens Sensors.

What Types of Sensor Do We Provide?

At Midwest Supply, we have a range of rooftop, wall mount, and vertical mount sensors, including accessories, to meet your residential and commercial needs. Our sensors’ average length is between 10ft-20ft with temperature ranges from 13-30°C and 55-85°F.

Midwest Supply’s current line includes:

  • Duct Sensors
  • Outside Sensors
  • Pressure Sensors
  • Room Sensors
  • Gas Sensors
  • Strap Sensors
  • Bullet Sensors

More About Bacnet® and Modbus Communication

Bacnet® and Modbus refer to standard network communication protocols.

BACnet®, short for "Building Automation Control Network", is a data communication protocol for building automation and control networks that utilize the ASHRAE, ANSI, and ISO 16484-5 standards protocol. It's used for multiple devices to communicate across building automation systems by system users and building system manufacturers.

Modbus is one of the oldest protocols for devices to communicate their data digitally to a central controller. While it is best suited for industrial applications, its simplicity also makes it useful for building automation.

Our friendly and knowledgeable customer service staff can help you find a suitable sensor for your system if you are still deciding what to buy.
